One on One Worker
We provide counseling and activity planning during the school week and
on weekends at your place or ours. We assist youth requiring developmental,
behavioural and/or multicultural support. We interpret cultures and offer
life skills development. Counseling, in one-to-one, group, or family sessions,
assessing behaviour, promoting self-image, and providing skills training.
Our one-to-one workers may facilitate communication between school, home
and community agencies.
We work with students of all ages, race, and ability, with a focus on
youth with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. This includes,
but is not limited to, individual and group counseling; developing and
implementing behaviour management strategies; supporting the student and
family; offering a liaison with other involved community agencies; and
planning and instructing relevant life skills curriculum. We also plan
and lead recreation and community-based activities; support the integration
of the students into "regular" education; and connect with other
school professionals. We utilize various methods and techniques to enhance
the student's self-esteem and acceptance of greater responsibility.
BC Extreme staff have a sound knowledge of developmental psychology and
the ability to assess the behaviour and needs of elementary and secondary
school children with behavioural and/or personality problems. They can
effectively intervene in crisis situations relating to students and can
counsel children both individually and in groups.
